Hokai Nuku

Hōkai Nuku are currently seeking 8 apprentices to work on the construction of the Ara Tūhono, Pūhoi to Warkworth roading project.

Current stage

At this stage Hokai Nuku are scouting for potential candidates, who will then be invited to an information session at the NX2 head office in Kōurawhero (date tbc) or someone will come to talk to them directly. Credible and keen candidates can then move on to the interview stage. Hokai Nuku would need to get the apprentices selected by November, for a January 2019 start at the latest.

Criteria for candidates

The criteria is that they whakapapa to Ngāti Manuhiri, have a full driver’s license and are drug free. A car would be helpful too so they can get to work, confidence in upholding mana whenua values and tikanga and NZQA Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy skills (This can be done as part of your training).

 

What to expect

You will be based at Warkworth. You will start at 6.30am most days. This will be a 40 hour week, but some overtime may be available. You must do some coursework in your own time. You will work closely with your line manager and other project managers who will guide your on-the-job training and coursework. At the end of your apprenticeship you will be eligable for professional accreditation.
